To call this library CurlyAnkles is the idea of my eldest son, to base it on the name of a pretend club he was in at age of six. I chose to use his idea as it goes quite nicely with the GNOME logo of a foot (ankles being joined to feet). Also with the catchphrase "Get a foot up with CurlyAnkles" and the fact that my initials are CA, I thought this would be ideal if somewhat unusual. The CurlyAnkles library has been an ongoing project since around 1998 and was originally a simple docking widget using the win32 API. During the autumn of 2001 whilst starting to learn the GNOME 1.4 API, I decided to rewrite the library in GTK. Since then it has been updated at various stages, whilst striving to incorporate an easily extensible design. My son is now 21.
